Among Women4given’s members are full-time professionals and stay-at-home moms, retirees and school teachers—women in every season of life.
What do they have in common? They make giving a high priority.
What else do they have in common? They’re busy.
Caring for grandchildren, caring for parents, managing employees in distant cities, managing students in their classrooms, leading Bible studies, volunteering their time in a variety of ways—we understand that women are busy!
When Kathy O’Dell founded Women4given, she and her planning team wanted all women to know that they could join an organization like Women4given by taking this stance:
You can be involved as little or as much as you like!
It’s refreshing, really. We believe that people ought to give freely and cheerfully, not out of obligation. That’s why we won’t chase you down in the grocery store to insist that you help the Volunteer Services Team sort newborn layettes.
However, if you want to be more involved, opportunities abound.
For instance, you might choose to actively contribute to the grants research process, chair a committee or team, or serve a three-year term on the Board of Directors.
Or, if you have less time to commit, you might participate in fun volunteer activities throughout the month or attend informative membership gatherings held four times a year.
Or, if you simply want to make your annual donation of $365 and cast a vote for your favorite grant applicants, we are thrilled to have you.
We know that even when our members can’t be present or offer their leadership skills, we are united in mission: to encourage generosity in order to serve women and children in Christian love. And together, we’re making a difference.
To learn more about membership, involvement, leadership, or how you might use your gifts in Women4given, please contact me. I’d love to talk to you!
It’s opening day! Yes, Grants Season 2014 is now underway. Our members recently approved the first grant of the year, unanimously voting to fund the sponsorship of three girls at the Christian Activity Center for $3,600!
Although we will cast our votes for the majority of grant awards in mid-May, this grant is different from the others. Back in 2011, Women4given began funding the sponsorship of four girls at the Christian Activity Center.
We had the privilege of getting to know the girls and celebrating their birthdays and holidays with them. In fact, we liked them so much that we voted to continue their sponsorship in 2012 and 2013, as well.
Although two of our sponsored friends have relocated during these years, we look forward to another great year with Jamiah, Jalyn, and Jerrica.
Please pray for God’s continued guidance as the Grants Task Force reviews applicants for the remaining 2014 grant awards.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of women and children—join us!
