Women4given runs on an academic calendar*, with membership season ramping up in September and grant awards season going out with a bang in May.
What’s happening in the summer? So glad you asked!
The Christian Activity Center in East St. Louis is putting our grant dollars to good use on the construction of a children’s library/quiet space. We can’t wait to see the results! For now, here’s the work in progress:
Rebirth: East St. Louis has invited Women4given members to help renovate its new outpost across from East St. Louis High School: 9 a.m., Sat., June 21 & 28. Check it out!
The board of directors is taking the summer off from meetings; they will resume in August.
Bonnie Fahrner, Grants Task Force chair, has sent congratulatory letters to grant recipients, and thank you notes have been rolling in. Stay tuned to Facebook for excerpts from these lovely notes of appreciation.
Linda Duncan, Programming chair, is planning our next gathering at 6:30 p.m. on Tues., Sept. 30, location to be determined. If you’d like to be part of the planning team, let us know! Details to come!
Betty Nelson, Volunteer Services chair, and Pati Church had a great turnout to organize baby layettes: 21 volunteers worked 45 collective hours to serve the needs of newborns in Honduras. Thanks, ladies!
Terri Haider, historian, is keeping our Facebook page up to date with useful information.
Marsha Heffner, president, is thinking ahead to next year: Women4given’s fifth anniversary!
