W4g Christmas Party
December 11th 6:30pm
Fletcher’s Kitchen and Tap
6101 W Main Street, Belleville, IL
Who doesn’t love a Christmas party?…a chance to share the spirit of Christmas, share a buffet dinner, and share our mission of serving women and children as we sponsor needy families. And in keeping with our Literacy theme; we have a surprise for you!
Members received an Evite invitation with a list of items you can purchase and bring with you to the Christmas program. Please wrap your gift and include a tag with the child’s name. If all the needed items are filled, gift cards for grocery stores or restaurants are always great!
Cost of the dinner is $22. Please bring exact cash or check made out to Women4given that night. RSVP by Dec 2.
Thank you in advance for your incredible generosity!
September 25th Program: Literacy
Illini Elementary School
21 Circle Drive, Fairview Heights, IL 62208
- 68% of America’s 4th graders read below a proficient level. 82% of those children are from low-income families.
- A student not reading by 3rd grade is 4 times more likely to drop out of high school.
- 61% of low-income families have no age-appropriate books in their homes.
Join us as we learn more about literacy in our community and set a plan in motion to help our children. We can start by building home libraries! Please consider donating new or gently used children’s books. Bring your books and a friend to the program!
May Meeting/Program: “Celebration”
May 15th 6:30pm
Whiteside Middle School Library
111Warrior Way, Belleville, IL 62221
We are very excited about our two finalists, Christian Activity Center and R3 Development.
The membership meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 15th, at 6:30 p.m. at Whiteside Middle School, 111 Warrior Way, Belleville, in their library. A representative of each finalist will be there to give a 5 minute presentation on their nonprofit followed by 5 minutes of Q & A. We hope you will be able to attend to hear the presentations and vote in person. Some ladies told us that last year they thought they had made their decision until they heard personally from the nonprofit representatives.
Both nonprofits are doing great things and we would love for you to hear their story. In addition to addressing the needs of childhood poverty and hunger today, they are working to break the cycle by teaching the children life and job skills.
DON’T FORGET TO BRING a box of Capri Sun drinks, juice, or punch. Or bring a box of snack items such as fruit snacks or cheese crackers (nothing with nuts, please) for the Whiteside Summer Lunches!
And also… BRING A FRIEND!
